Put simply, white hat SEO is the opposite of black hat SEO.
White hat SEO is essentially the SEO you stick to when you don’t want to use unethical black hat SEO techniques such as keyword stuffing or cloaking that could get your site de-indexed.
It refers to the usage of SEO techniques and tactics that focus on a human audience opposed to search engines and is completely in line with search engine rules and policies.
Why it is important to know the difference between black hat and white hat SEO
This is a good question because it is important to understand how white hat SEO works – this knowledge will prevent you from hiring a dodgy SEO agency which adopts the opposite black hat strategies.
White hat SEO – It’s what we do at our SEO marketing agency Pearl Lemon (but we do not normally actually wear white hats while doing it. We’re more beanie people.)
Some examples include, but are not limited to:
- Keyword Optimization
- Ensuring Quick Load Times and improving other factors that determine site performance
- Good site architecture – this improves user experience resulting in a better ranking
- Guest Posting
- Press Releases
- High quality, relevant content and keywords
The above white hat tactics will help you rank your website in the SERPs. Allow it some time, but white hat SEO will win out in the long run.
