eBay SEO Service FAQs

eBay SEO relies on their own algorithm to show how to display product listings. SEO in this space can fit both individual listings and eBay stores. Cassini is Ebay’s search engine and works very similar to Google…so SEO is equally important.

eBay is a highly competitive platform and is heavily used. You need to be able to stand out against your competition. By optimising your store and/or posts, you have the best chance of making sales.

Seller ratings don’t have any specified weight within the eBay algorithm, but it can be safely assumed that the better the seller rating, the more potential sales can be made. 99% or better as far as seller ratings go will get you listed as a top seller.

Your listing title should include keywords to the product itself. Think about what you would search for if you were looking for your product. This is a signal to the user and the eBay algorithm that your listing is relevant.

Your keywords should be sprinkled throughout your listing. This means it should have your main keyword in the title and in the description itself. Variations of your target keywords should also be used in the description, but you need to avoid keyword stuffing.

Your product image is what will draw customers to your listings. Having an accurate, high-quality image is critical to making your sale. It is also important to also optimise your photo. This means to include your target keyword in the file name of the photo. This will help eBay know what your product is.

eBay is a widely used platform for individuals and those creating a store on the platform. eBay gets more than 167 million monthly visitors, so it stands to reason that it is a powerful platform to run your eCommerce business through.

Cassini is eBay’s search engine that works much like Google does. Cassini factors three main items in its algorithm.

  1. Keywords – Cassini factors in keywords for both titles and descriptions.
  2. Buyer behavior – Buyer behavior is classified as click-throughs. Cassini will rank a product and similar ones higher the more other users click and purchase the item.
  3. Seller performance – A seller’s previous performance also is a factor in Cassini rankings. These are successful sales, customer service and ratings.

Your eBay seller profile needs to fully encompass who you are and what you aim to sell. Although your sell tag does not need to have your product keyword, it helps, so it is easier to distinguish who you are and what you sell.

You also get a profile description that goes up to 250 characters. Use this to your advantage and sprinkle in keywords throughout it. Be able to distinguish who you are in as short as possible.

When setting your profile photo, be sure that it encompasses who you and your store are. Your picture dimensions should be 300×300 pixels with a minimum resolution of 72 DPI.

There is no set count for keywords through a description, but there are some standards that are typically followed. Keywords for eBay average about 5-7% of total frequency. So for a 250-word description, your keywords and variations should be about 12 to 18 words. The goal is to highlight the focus of your product without keyword stuffing and being overwhelming.
