Law Firm Web Design

As SEO experts who stay that way by making sure that we are always learning, we actively seek practical, actionable advice and opinions on every aspect of SEO and digital marketing. We welcome blog submissions on all kinds of subjects related to SEO.

We are happy to accept submissions that include links back to your own site, or that feature products you make use of – or offer – that might be helpful to our audience. We do not however allow affiliate links.

As we know people have a lot of questions about writing for us, here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about submitting a guest blog post to Pearl Lemon.

What should I write about?

To get a better idea of the content we publish, read our blog. As you can see, our posts cover all areas of SEO and digital marketing, including recent developments and news, as the SEO world is ever changing and never static.

Here are some things we’d love to receive more submissions about:

  • Personal opinions on SEO and digital marketing
  • Personal stories about how you or your business have made use of SEO to change it for the better
  • Tips for using SEO more efficiently
  • Opinions on hot button topics such as black hat SEO, grey hat SEO and big algorithm changes like Google BERT.
  • Tips and advice on content creation, social media and more.
  • Reviews and opinions about SAAS tools that can be used for SEO and digital marketing

Should I pitch you my idea before writing the post?

Sure! Pitch your idea by contacting us. We can’t guarantee publication until we review a completed submission but we’ll be happy to evaluate your pitch though before you get to writing! We also consider fully-drafted pieces.

When will I hear back from you after I send my pitch?

Please allow up to two weeks for our editorial staff to respond to your pitch.

Online Reputation Management

Have any tips for ensuring my piece is a fit for Pearl Lemon?

  • Please write in the “you” voice as much as possible, then support your advice with personal experience or stories.
  • Posts should be written in blog style, with short paragraphs, numbered lists, bullets and lots of white space.
  • Including sub-headings is much appreciated (we love to use H2 and H3!)
  • Only one space between sentences, please!

How should I submit my post?

Please submit your post as a Google document.

We use Google Docs because it allows us collaborate with several people without passing around new versions of a Word Doc. If you’ve never shared a Google Doc before, here are easy instructions. (Don’t forget to give us editing power.)

Tip: It’s best to create your post as a Google Doc, rather than uploading a Word Doc to Google. Sometimes if you take the latter route, we can’t edit even if you tell the doc to allow us to do so.

How long should my posts be?

Aim for 1,000 – 2,000 words. From time to time, we’ll publish shorter pieces if they are especially topical but we do prefer longer submissions that are fully fleshed out.

Should I include links within the piece?

Yes. Please include links that will be helpful and relevant for the reader–they can be to an appropriate post on your site or on any other site or blog. We ask that you aim to include at least one links within your post to other posts or pages on the Pearl Lemon site too.

Insert links in your copy via anchor text or keywords, for example, like this if you’re writing about how to start a blog. No HTML, please!

Should I write a headline?

That’d be great! We reserve the right to tweak it for SEO, style or just to make it more attention-grabbing.

Fun fact: We write approximately 5-7 headlines before choosing one for a post. If you want to suggest one or two potential headlines, that makes our job easier!

Will you edit my post?

Yes, we’ll edit for content and clarity, doing our best to preserve your voice. You’ll be able to see our changes in your Google Doc and we often work with guest authors a few weeks ahead of your publishing date on edits. Please note, we cannot accept submissions with lots of spelling and grammar errors, so please check your work for those before you submit it.

Can I repost my submission on my blog?

No. If we run your post on Pearl Lemon’s website, we retain the rights to that content. We don’t allow republishing on your own blog or any other website. (Did you know reposting content can hurt SEO traffic results for everyone involved? We try to keep it tidy around here.)

Are you definitely going to publish my piece?

We reserve the right to not publish your post if we decide it’s not a strong fit for us. You are then free to publish it elsewhere. We will let you know if we decide not to use your piece .

Can I include a bio?

Absolutely! There are a few items we need from you to build your author profile.

Add your name, email, website and Twitter handle to the top of your post.

Include a 2-3 sentence bio at the top of your post. We’d love for you to mention who you are, what you do and what SEO and digital marketing mean in your life.

What should I do after I submit my post?

When it runs, we hope you’ll be active in the comments, responding to readers’ questions or thoughts. We also hope you’ll share your post on social media!

We look forward to your contribution!

Ready to pitch your idea or submit your post?

Before you submit your piece, please run through this checklist. Did you…

  • Add your name, email, website, and Twitter handle to the top of your post?
  • Include your 2-3 sentence bio at the top of your post?
  • Turn your post into an editable Google Doc? (Because Google can be finicky, that means creating your post as a Google Doc — cutting and pasting if you’ve written it in Word — rather than uploading a Word Doc to Drive.)

If so, you’re ready to submit! Contact us here to get started.
