I had the opportunity to have an amazing conversation with Justin Lewis at The Hard Thing Podcast today. From talking about SEO for Podcast sites, Justin agreed to a quick interview.

What Is The Book (Or Books) You’ve Given Most As A Gift, And Why?

When You Feel Overwhelmed Or Unfocused, Or Have Lost Your Focus Temporarily, What Do You Do?
I get to tomorrow. Usually, relative good days follow relative bad days. If you can make it to tomorrow, chances are, it will be slightly better.
In the last five years, what new belief, behavior, or habit has most improved your life?
That I have had some part to play with everything bad that has happened to me, and therefore I can have something to do with making it better.
What is one of the best or most worthwhile investments you’ve ever made?
My best investment has been starting a podcast because it’s allowed me to have really awesome conversations with people who are so much more developed than myself. It’s like having mentors of all kinds.
Get curious and don't worry about looking like a fool who doesn't know enough.

What advice would you give to a smart, driven college student about to enter the “real world”? What advice should they ignore?
I would tell them to get as much experience as they can creating and producing real world results for other people.
What careers advice would you give to your 21-year old self?
I would have told myself to fear less.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Real Estate Investing.
What's your favourite digital marketing channel and why?
I like Omni channel but since that is a cop out, I’d say I like SEO primarily because that is how most people interact with brands online first.
What is a 'hack' you have for success that most people don't know about?
Get curious and don’t worry about looking like a fool who doesn’t know enough. You probably are, and getting curious and asking questions will help with that.
What are you NOT Very Good at?
I’m not very good at connecting with others and forming deep relationships. I’m kind of a shy person so it’s hard for me to really create deep working relationships.
