Historical project overview
Anonymized client / email marketing and digital support / 2016–2017. Pearl Lemon delivered a sequence of marketing work for a consultancy serving nonprofit and membership organisations. The client’s name is not published here because existing public-use permission is uncertain. This is a first-hand agency account of delivered work and period-specific campaign figures, not a quoted client testimonial or an independent audit.
The commercial challenge
Consultancies serving charities and membership organisations often sell complex advice rather than impulse purchases. The recipient needs to understand what problem an offer addresses, whether the organisation is relevant and what useful next step is available. Campaign design therefore needs to balance reach with clarity and follow-up—not simply maximise the number of messages sent.
Our historical relationship began with a paid marketing initiative in late 2016 and extended to additional digital assignments in 2017. Work discussed included email/newsletter delivery and follow-up, followed by wider channel activity. We are not presenting that chronology as one uninterrupted SEO contract, and we do not attribute every subsequent client activity to the original email resend.
The campaign action: a resend
A newsletter had already been issued. Pearl Lemon supported an additional send intended to reach readers who had not engaged initially. Rather than treating the full original mailing list as fresh prospects, the result was assessed as extra interactions associated with the follow-up segments.
Historical reporting contained two resend segments. Together, they were recorded as 197 plus 106 opens, and 8 plus 13 clicks. The two segment counts therefore sum to 303 opens and 21 clicks. A contemporaneous agency summary described 305 additional opens and 21 clicks. The two-open discrepancy is preserved here rather than silently erased: the most defensible public description is approximately 300 additional opens and 21 recorded clicks from the follow-up.
What those results actually mean
| Measure | What can be said |
|---|---|
| Opens | About 300 additional opens reported across two resend segments; exact contemporaneous totals differ by two |
| Clicks | 21 clicks reported in both the segment breakdown and agency summary |
| Unique new prospects | Not established; opens and clicks do not necessarily equal unique people |
| Booked consulting meetings | Not established by this resend data |
| Attributed revenue or ROI | Not established by this campaign evidence |
Email opens can be affected by mail software, image loading and privacy protections. Clicks are generally a more deliberate form of interaction, but a click still is not a qualified lead. This is why an agency reporting email success should describe the target segment, send timing, response counts and any downstream actions separately.
What the engagement demonstrates about delivery
First, it shows an actual multi-stage client relationship rather than a speculative strategy article: the campaign included accepted work, paid delivery and later digital activity. Second, the follow-up was a specific intervention, not a claim that changing the email system transformed an organisation’s revenue. Third, the original reporting has enough detail to highlight a minor discrepancy instead of pretending every historical number is perfect.
A practical workflow for similar clients
Define the audience: identify whether the email is for established contacts, recent enquiries or genuinely new prospects. Set the next action: decide whether readers should book a consultation, download a brief or request a reply. Segment follow-ups: avoid re-sending indiscriminately to everyone, and respect consent and communications rules. Measure in layers: record delivery, opens, clicks, replies, qualified meetings and sales separately.
Those points are practical lessons informed by the engagement, not unverified claims that every step was measured in the historical campaign.
Editorial evidence note
Source: Pearl Lemon’s first-hand historical account of newsletter activity and client correspondence discussed during the engagement. Client identity: intentionally withheld. Figures: historically reported event totals, not third-party audited. Public endorsement: none implied. Time limitation: historic results from 2016–2017 should not be projected onto modern email deliverability or privacy conditions.
